Looking to start a home studio on a shoestring budget?
Anyone who is looking to get into making beats or starting a home studio on a budget should seriously consider the following equipments.
Personally, when I look into starting a budget home studio, price is obviously a prime factor and MIDI is another one. Presently, more studio are becoming digital and most workstation are done on a computer. Getting a decent DAW, or digital audio workstation and the equipment to control the DAW is all you need to get started.
A MIDI device comes in many forms. The Alesis Q49 is 49 key MIDI keyboard and the Akai MPD 26 is a 16 pad MIDI control unit. Now MIDI devices have no built in sounds in them, just keys or pads that when triggered, sends out a MIDI signal which is read by the DAW. The Q49 and be used to play different plugins in a DAW such as Fruityloops and the MPD26 can be used to play drumkits.
Just starting a budget home studio with these two devices is enough for you to be able to make any beats you want. I personally have both of these devices and it has allowed to be do virtually anything I want and the best part is the PRICE! UNLIMITED potential with such a small budget.
Stick to MIDI and it will save you a LOT of money and stick to a reliable DAW such as Fruityloops, Reason or Cubase. I'd recommend Fruityloops for beginners and hooking up the Q49 and the MPD26 to Fruitloops, I was able to play all of the piano plugins and load in all the drumkits and use the transpose buttons on the MPD26 to record my loops or songs.
Dungeon Hunter 2
I stumbled upon this wonderful RPG game and have been playing it for the past week. It's been addicting and great gameplay. I have an iPod Touch 2G and the graphics have been above average with very little stuttering.
Now I'm not much of an RPG gamer and all I care about is stats so I've been breezing through the game and have given very little attention to the storyline. You basically run through dungeons and kill every enemy in sight.
What I like about this game is the drops you get from the kills. Most of them are weapons and armor but its nice to pick up a more powerful sword or helmet as you play along without having to spend too much golds on upgrade.
Dungeon Hunter 2 is AOApproved!
